Description: |
There are two Castanopsis trees located in Keigenji Temple’s west cemetery. The southernmost Castanopsis stands 18 meters tall, with a trunk circumference of 4.2 meters and a base circumference of 11.4 meters. The branch spread measures 14.3 meters East-West and 15.6 meters North-South. The northernmost Castanopsis stands 18 meters tall, has a base circumference of 11.5 meters, and splits into two trunks 0.6 meters up from the ground. The eastern trunk is 2.7 meters in circumference, while the western trunk measures 2.1 meters around. The branch spread was 14.3 meters East-West and 14.7 meters North-South at the time of measurement. Keigenji Temple is also called “Shinoki-ji”, or, “Castanopsis Temple”. |
