Description: |
The Inarihara archaeological site is located in the Haruoka 3-chome area of Saitama City’s Minuma Ward. Of the over 2,300 items excavated from this site, most are earthenware pieces from the initial Jomon period (9,000-6,500 BCE). The excavated items also include stone artifacts. These artifacts are valuable materials for understanding the cultures of Eastern Japan during the initial Jomon period. The yoriito-mon works are particularly high in typological value. It was proposed to name them after the excavation site to form a typological category called “Inarihara-Style Pottery”. They are extremely precious resources. |
