This collection dates back from the Kofun period (250-538 CE). “Kofun” refers to the mounded tombs that characterized the time period. The features of the terracotta “haniwa” tomb decorations indicate that they’re likely from the latter half of the 5th century. This collection was excavated in 1988. |
