These Buddhist statues possess a rustic beauty that exemplifies the style of the wandering priest Enku. Of the set, three statues remain: Eleven-Faced Kannon (Ekādaśamukha), Zennyo Ryūō (lit. "goodness-like dragon-king", a rain-dragon deity), and the Child of Wealth (Sudhanakumāra). The standing states of Zennyo and The Child of Wealth are each carved from half of the same log. |
