Description: |
These buildings are located within the grounds of Hikawa-jinja Shrine. All three are sangensha nagare-zukuri (buildings with asymmetrical gabled roofs that stretch into a portico over the four-pillared entrances) of similar size. These shrine buildings are part of a set of four built under the order of Tokugawa Ietsuna, the fourth shogun of the Edo period. Despite undergoing many repairs after their construction in 1667, they still bear carvings and other architectural features representative of that period. They remain precious examples of late 17th-century architecture. |
