Description: |
This sword is said to have been made by Sukezane, a swordsmith from the Kamakura period (1185-1333). Sukezane was a disciple of the Fukuoka Ichomonji school of smithing in Bizen Province. This blade’s powerful form and grain are recognizable features of Sukezane’s style. It was donated to Ryumonji Temple by Iwatsuki Castle’s Lord O’oka. |
