Description: |
This “yosegi-zukuri” (joined-block construction) statue was made from hinoki cypress during the Muromachi period. It may have been influenced by the styles of China’s Song and Yuan dynasties. The figure sits 49.5 cm tall, with a measurement from hairline to pedestal of 45 cm, 43.3 cm between its knees, and a robe that drops 36.7 cm below the figure’s legs. |
